The day was late, the sun'd moved on;
The seconds ticked by, the seconds gone.
His heart beat fast, his pulse was quick;
He was a firework ready on a stick;
The clock chimed twelve, he leapt up high;
He saw the city as he went by;
Then disappeared he into a burst of colour
To the oohs and aahs of every watcher
And this wrote he in the dark night sky:
"A HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR YOU AND I!"
